Für den englischsprachigen Kurzfilm The Landlord, eine absurde Komödie, die in einem Berliner Mietshaus spielt, habe ich den Vorspann und Abspann gestaltet. Die Animation entstand in klassischer Frame-by-Frame-Technik mit TVPaint und verbindet grafischen Witz mit erzählerischem Feingefühl.

Im Oktober 2024 begann ich mit einem groben Storyboard für den Vorspann. Über mehrere Monate hinweg wurde daraus eine detailreiche Animation, die dem Ton des Films gerecht wird. Im Februar 2025 wurde der Film finalisiert.

Mein Fokus lag darauf, die skurrile Atmosphäre des Films visuell einzufangen und durch den animierten Vorspann sowie den stilvollen Abspann ein stimmiges Gesamtbild zu schaffen.

For the English-language short film The Landlord, an absurd comedy set in a Berlin apartment building, I created the opening and closing credits. The animation was produced using traditional frame-by-frame technique in TVPaint, combining visual humor with a strong sense of storytelling.

I began developing a rough storyboard for the opening sequence in October 2024. Over the following months, I refined the visuals step by step. By February 2025, the film was completed.

My goal was to visually capture the film’s quirky tone and to create a cohesive overall look through a hand-animated intro and a stylistically consistent outro.

Für den Vorspann des Kurzfilms The Landlord entwickelte ich ein Storyboard, das als visuelle Grundlage für die spätere Animation diente. Die erste Fassung entstand im Oktober 2024 und half dabei, Timing, Bildaufbau und erzählerischen Rhythmus festzulegen. In mehreren Schritten habe ich das Storyboard weiter ausgearbeitet und visuell verdichtet – bis hin zur finalen Animatic, die nahtlos in die Frame-by-Frame-Animation überging.

For the opening sequence of the short film The Landlord, I created a storyboard that served as the visual foundation for the final animation. The initial version was developed in October 2024 and helped define the timing, composition, and narrative rhythm. Over time, I refined the storyboard in several stages, leading to a detailed animatic that seamlessly transitioned into the final frame-by-frame animation.

Die Figuren des Films wurden in enger Anlehnung an die realen Schauspieler entworfen. Das Character Sheet zeigt die Hauptcharaktere in unterschiedlichen Posen und Gesichtsausdrücken und diente als stilistische und proportionale Grundlage für die Animation. Ziel war es, den Schauspielern gerecht zu werden und gleichzeitig den eigenwilligen Ton des Films visuell zu unterstützen.

The film’s characters were designed based closely on the real-life actors. This character sheet presents the main roles in various poses and expressions and served as a stylistic and proportional reference throughout the animation process. The aim was to reflect the actors’ presence while visually supporting the film’s unique tone.
