Catweazle (2021)

The pages from the city chronicle that I designed for Catweazle.

In 2020, I calligraphed texts and illustrated pages for Catweazle for the city chronicle in the movie. Only a few pages in the book can be turned. First I designed the individual pages. Then they were bound into the book together with fake pages. Before I started with the illustrations and calligraphy, I aged the pages with a mixture of coffee and cinnamon. The film was shown in cinemas in 2021 and on Sat 1 TV on 29.05.2023.

While on the run from the prince, the magician Catweazle has accidentally conjured himself up from the 11th century (1020) to the present day. In the present, a boy finds the magician's wand and takes it home with him. Via a detour, the magic wand ends up in an auction house. An evil art historian wants to take possession of it. The boy and his best friend learn from a medieval town chronicle that Catweazle's hut burned down after he disappeared. The great fire also destroyed the neighboring town and castle. The children and Catweazle now do everything they can to get the magic wand back so that the magician can return to his time and prevent the catastrophe.
